Dia de Muertos Week in Mexico City

GROUP WALKING TOUR

The city takes on a different atmosphere during this time, a festive and vibrant celebration filled with colors, art installations, and giant alebrijes on Reforma Avenue. Bakeries are baking 'pan de muerto,' filling the air with the scents of sugar, oranges, marigold flowers, and copal incense. Businesses set up altars, markets overflow with flowers – it's simply delightful.

Our favorite season!

Discover the magic of Día de Muertos in the heart of Mexico City with Magia Memorial. This tour takes you through streets and markets full of colors and scents, where vendors prepare flowers, papel picado, and other elements for the altars that will soon adorn the city.

During the tour, you’ll enjoy authentic Mexican treats: from tacos at the Mercado de Jamaica to pan de muerto at a traditional local bakery. As you explore, you’ll learn about the history and meaning of this celebration, and how Mexican culture honors the memory of loved ones with creativity and joy.

An immersive experience that combines tradition, flavors, and the vibrant energy of the historic center—perfect for those who want to experience Día de Muertos like a local.

This is my favorite market: easy to explore, with friendly people and amazing food. We’ll try delicious carnitas or a vegetarian huarache! The aisles are filled with vibrant flowers for the altars, as well as all kinds of items for the offerings! The atmosphere is truly special!

From Mercado Jamaica, we’ll head to the Historic Center to experience the Day of the Dead atmosphere. We’ll visit the Megaofrenda at the Zócalo and stroll through lively streets, stopping to enjoy a traditional pan de muerto.

Alameda park area

We’ll stroll through Alameda Central, the oldest park in the Americas, surrounded by centuries-old buildings and vibrant city life. During Día de Muertos, we’ll see altars both inside the Palace of Fine Arts and outside, created by feminist collectives, adding powerful meaning to this part of downtown.

When do you hear two young adults (males, 17 years old) say ‘I will never forget this day and I will never look at death the same way again’? That summed up our experience with Gabriel and the most excellent day of events he organized. Gabe was full of stories, facts, insights, empathy, grace, and joy.

Celia C, LA

I have been on many walking tours in many cities and this "Glimpse of Mexico City in Dia de Muertos" led by Gabriel is one of the best.
I have rarely met someone with so much passion for a city.
Her in depth knowledge of architecture, food and history made the full day tour pass by quickly.
It was like spending a fun day with a good friend who loves the city.

Ross T. - UK

It was an incredible experience, Gabriel was excellent and as helpful or as practical as you wanted him to be. He gave me good food and some drinks — I would go with them again anytime.
