Itinerary
1
SAN JUAN
We’ll begin our adventure by meeting in the plaza outside San Juan Market, right by the historic Church of El Buen Tono. From there, we’ll step into San Juan Market, a historic gem renowned for its gourmet ingredients, fresh seafood, and an intriguing selection of imported delicacies like fine cheeses and cured meats. But what truly sets it apart is its exotic offerings—you’ll find everything from scorpions and caiman to baby goat, making it one of the most unique markets in Mexico City. Here, we’ll kick off our tour with a refreshing Baja-style ceviche, bursting with citrusy flavors and just the right touch of spice. As we explore the vibrant stalls, you’ll experience the city’s rich food culture, where tradition meets culinary adventure.
2
PULQUE
Next, we step into Pulquería Los Duelistas, one of Mexico City’s most vibrant pulque bars. Pulque, the “drink of the gods,” is a pre-Hispanic fermented agave beverage once reserved for Aztec nobility and now enjoying a revival. Los Duelistas stands out for its colorful murals, lively atmosphere, and ever-changing menu of curados—pulque infused with flavors like mango, guava, or coffee. A perfect blend of tradition and modern energy, this spot offers an authentic taste of Mexico’s deep-rooted drinking culture.
3
ALAMEDA PARK AND BELLAS ARTES
As we continue our food adventure, we take a short walk through Alameda Central, Mexico City’s oldest public park and a historic cultural hub. Once an Aztec marketplace, it was transformed in the 16th century into a grand promenade and has since been a gathering place for art, leisure, and social life. Along the way, we’ll pass the magnificent Palacio de Bellas Artes, an architectural masterpiece blending Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, home to iconic murals and world-class performances. This isn’t just a stroll—it’s a journey through history, where the city’s artistic and architectural legacy comes to life.
4
IN PASTOR WE TRUST
Our next stop takes us to Tacos Los Cocuyos, a legendary street stand that has been serving some of the best tacos in Mexico City for generations. Beloved by locals and visitors alike, this no-frills spot is known for its perfectly grilled suadero, smoky longaniza, and iconic tacos al pastor, each packed with rich flavors and cooked to perfection. Open late into the night, Los Cocuyos is a true staple of the city’s street food scene, where every bite reflects the passion and tradition behind Mexico’s most beloved dish.
5
CHURRI-FIC!
Our final stop takes us to El Moro, a Mexico City institution that has been satisfying sweet cravings since 1935. Famous for its perfectly crisp churros dusted in cinnamon sugar, this beloved spot is a go-to for locals and visitors alike. Paired with a steaming cup of thick Mexican hot chocolate, these churros are the perfect balance of crunchy, warm, and sweet—a deliciously nostalgic way to wrap up our culinary journey.

We did the glimpse of Mexico city tour and it was excellent. Our guide was really nice, easy to communicate with, and offered excellent insight into different aspects of Mexico city including the markets, and historical & cultural perspectives. Highly recommend.

I have been on many walking tours in many cities and the "Glimpse of Mexico City" led by Gabriel is one of the best.
I have rarely met someone with so much passion for a city.
Her in depth knowledge of architecture, food and history made the full day tour pass by quickly.
It was like spending a fun day with a good friend who loves the city.

The first tour gave me a great overview of the history, architecture and life of the city including several strategically timed food stops. And I was able to gain an insight into the complex issues that Mexico City and Mexico as a whole currently faces, from a local's perspective. I would never have achieved this on my own or with a large tour group. I also felt quite safe riding the Metro, taxis and venturing into local markets in out of the way areas with a local Spanish speaker.
